How does a student benefit by participating in the NSTSE ?

NSTSE (National Level Science Talent Search Examination), a curriculum-based examination, is very useful for students who wish to assess their strengths and weaknesses in Maths and Science. Based on a ‘skill blueprint’, highly experienced educational specialists develop these assessment tests. The analysis of the performance is made at individual student, class, school and country levels. As an integral part of the academia, this programme has a far-reaching effect on the competitive spirit of young minds.

Who is eligible ?

Students of classes I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, XI (PCM), XI(PCB), XII (PCM), XII (PCB) are eligible to appear for this examination.

I am interested in taking part in the NSTSE. How will I come to know about the details of the exam ? You can contact your school’s Principal/In-charge Teacher for taking part. Your school also can participate in this examination.

Myself and few of my friends are interested in taking part in the NSTSE, but our school has yet not received any information. What do we do ?

Let us know the complete address of your school. We will send detailed information and registration forms to your School so that your Principal/Science Teacher can register your names for the exam. You can send the complete address to exam@unifiedcouncil.co

What is the syllabus for the NSTSE ?

NSTSE is based on the CBSE syllabus. 85% of that syllabus is considered for setting the NSTSE Question Paper. NSTSE question papers are also suitable for students following ICSE/ISC and various other State Board syllabi.

Are there any special books which the participants should refer to, for the NSTSE preparation ? ‘Brain Mapping Academy’ (BMA), a leading publishing house, is a trend-setter in publishing books related to Talent exams and Olympiads for k-12 segment. BMA is specialised in designing thought-provoking and application-based questions. Its popular and unique series are : Talent & Olympiad exams Resource Books, IIT Foundation & Olympiad Explorer and Reasoning Trainer. Please find more details at www.bmatalent.com

My school does not want to register for the NSTSE, but I am very eager to write that exam. Can I do it on my own ? Unfortunately, that is not possible at present.

I am going to write the NSTSE for the first time. Can I get sample papers ?

Sure, you can. Students desirous of referring to previous years’ Question Papers can purchase those papers. Click here http://www.unifiedcouncil.com/ModelPapers.aspx to purchase model question papers.

Or previous 5 years’ question papers can be practised online at www.mapmystep.com

What is the structure and pattern of the examination ?

There will be a different Question paper for each class. All the questions are objective-type with no negative marking for wrong answers.

Is the NSTSE conducted only in English

Yes. The medium of conducting the Test is English.

When are the results of NSTSE declared ?

Results of NSTSE are declared normally during the 1ST week of March every year.

Do I have to regularly visit your website for the latest update of Unified Council activities ?

Ideally, yes. All the important information, like date, time and venue of Talent Exams, Seminars, Workshops, etc., is available on our website. So it is beneficial for you to visit our website often.

I am going to participate in NSTSE. Will I get an ‘Admit Card’ ?

Yes, you will receive your ‘Admit Card’, two weeks before the examination. In case you do not receive the ‘Admit Card’ physically, for some reason; you can download the same, 10 days before the exam, from our website.

For participating in the forthcoming NSTSE, I have given/printed my name wrongly. All corrections whatsoever which are liable to be made, can be carried out at the examination centre itself. Some changes may need to be supported by documents, for authentication.

I am an NRI willing to participate in NSTSE, how can I participate ?

We thank you for taking interest in NSTSE. Venue of the NSTSE will be respective schools (other than India). There is no open center for NSTSE examination in countries other than India. So we can not accept individual application forms.

Why do students of the same class with similar total marks have different National Ranks ?

When more than one student get an equal top score, priority for awarding rank will be according to marks acquired in the following specified order of subjects : Mathematics (Biology for PCB group), Physics, Chemistry, Biology and General Questions.

I want to know my rank at city level of NSTSE. I could not find it on your website.

We only declare All India and State Ranks. City-wise achievers are declared only for selected cities.

Note : City Rank (for every Class) will be declared for the classes having a minimum participation of 500 students in a particular city.

Selected Cities :

Bangaluru, Bareilly, Bhubaneswar+Cuttack, Mohali+Panchkula, Chennai, Faridabad+Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Indore, Jalandhar, Jaipur, Kolkata, Kanpur, Kota, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Nasik, Noida+Ghaziabad, Pune, Varanasi, Yamuna nagar+Karnal+Ambala+Kurukshetra, Vadodara and Visakhapatnam.

I scored All India Rank 95. Why am I not seen in the City-toppers’ list ?

Yours is an All India rank (AIR), at a higher level. Your rank is based on All India Level participation while City rank is based only on that particular City-level.

Note : City-wise toppers are declared excluding top 100 All India Ranks & State Toppers.

I have appeared for NSTSE. Will I get a certificate ?

We send a Participation Certificate & Student’s Performance Report only if a student has opted for the same in his application.

I want to get information to assess my relative performance, like maximum marks scored by topper in each class.

You can check the same using this link. www.unifiedcouncil.com/achievers.aspx

What does “- -” in Rank column mean?

The marks of a student who gets less than 30 percent are shown with “—“.
